I ran cross country at Shawnee Mission West my freshmen through senior years, 2015-2018
High School Career Highlights
The highlight of my high school career was helping our team win state in the 4x800m relay at the 2017 state track meet. Other highlights include traveling to St. Louis with the cross country team and running the red bridges at Rim Rock.
What are you favorite memories from running cross country at West?
My favorite memories from running cross country at West include going to team dinners, running through the red bridges at Rim Rock, and traveling with the team.
Lessons learned from cross country?
Running cross country has taught me that resilience in the face of failure is an important quality to reaching your goals. Learning how to support your teammates and how to receive support from them is important to the whole team succeeding.
What impact has cross country had on your life?
Running cross country added a lot to my high school experience. I have met many of my closest friends in the running community. The people I met through cross country have supported me and helped me get to where I am today. Cross country has made running a large part of my life that will stay with me beyond collegiate athletics.
Advice to younger runners:
Keep having fun with running! When it gets hard remember why you started running and what you love about it!

I am currently getting ready to start training for my first indoor track season.
