Two Very Important Items for the Week Ahead in XC

ITEM 1: This is the week of our home meet at JCCC, and I emphasize the word “our,” as in all of us – coaches, athletes and parents, family members and alumni. We typically host close to 1000 runners each year at this meet and can’t pull it off without all of us stepping up to play a role. If you haven’t had an opportunity to help out with Time Trials,  a team dinner, the parent hospitality tent… this is your chance. We’ll need help with several easy tasks such as finish line judges, chute workers to hand out medals and keep athletes moving after they finish, timing chip collectors and course marshals at a couple key spots on the course to direct traffic and keep the course clear for runners.

SOMETIMES YOU

SOMETIMES ME

ALWAYS WE

Please consider signing up to man on of two shifts at the following link:

ITEM 2: As many of you may be aware, JCCC has decided to discontinue their Track and XC programs. Both of these programs have long provided high school students in our area an opportunity to run in college and even helped them to make the transition to NCAA Div. I and II programs. Last year at West almost 1/2 of our graduating seniors continued their education at JCCC. As sports go, XC and Track are relatively low cost programs and we would love to see JCCC continue to offer this to student athletes. As a small way of showing our support for this movement VRC has purchased SAVE JCCC TRACK t-shirts for our team to wear at the upcoming meet. If you would like to join in too, you can buy your own t-shirt through our team store for just $4. Please have orders placed by this Thursday, Oct. 4th and plan on picking them up at our hospitality tent on Saturday at JCCC. (For more ways to support this movement contact Brian Batliner at brian.batliner@gmail.com)
